Somalia's prime minister Omar Abdirashid Sharmarke resigns

Somali TFG Prime Minister Omar Abdirashid Ali Sharmarke has announced that he was resigning from office, after taking the resignation letter to the TFG President Sharif Ahmed, today.
The Prime minister, President Sharif and Speaker of Parliament held a joint press Conference at the Presidential Palace in Mogadishu while standing alongside with several Ministers and MPs.
Mr.Sharmarke said he was resigning in order to avoid further the political turmoil within the TFG, amid a strong rift between him and the President Sheikh Sharif Ahmed.
President Sharif thanked the Prime Minister for his work, calling Sharmarke’s move a “courageous decision.”
Shiekh Sharif said the rift between him and Sharmarke was solved internally without the intervention of the foreigners. The President announced that he will name a new Prime Minister within the coming days.
