Somalia condemns murder of Turkish doctorsSomalia’s Federal government has condemned an attack in the capital Mogadishu in which two Turkish medical doctors were killed and four other Somali nationals.
In a press statement, Prime Minister Omar Abdirashid Ali Sharmarke conveyed his sincere condolences to the Turkish government, families and colleagues of the victims.
‘’We mourn with the people and government of Turkey over the loss of our brothers.’’
Mr Sharmarke stressed that such attacks won’t stop the country from reaching its targets.
The attack happened on Wednesday evening when unknown gunmen opened fire at a van in the Hodan neighbourhood. No group has yet to claim the responsibility.
Turkey’s involvement in Somalia emerged in 2011 when Prime Minister Recep Tayyib Erdogan paid a rare visit to Mogadishu, becoming the first non-African leader to visit the war-torn city for two decades.
