The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, who spent the night in Djibouti, is returning to the country today, and is expected to travel to Addis Ababa.
During his stay in Djibouti, the President held a meeting with his counterpart Ismail Omar Gelle, informing him about the recent developments in his country, the importance of the historical relationship between the two countries and their joint role in the stability of the region.
The President of Somalia visited Kenya this week, where he signed an agreement between the two countries which is part of the trade and security cooperation.
The visit to Addis Ababa is particularly noteworthy, and it is the first time that there will be direct talks between President Hassan and Prime minister Abiy Ahmed, whose administration in Ethiopia had close relations with the former government of Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo.
According to sources close to President Hassan, his trip to Ethiopia has been delayed. Villa Somalia and the Government of Ethiopia have not yet issued an official statement about the delay in the President’s visit to Addis Ababa.
The Cabinet of Ministers of Somalia has not yet been announced. The talks between the allies of President Hassan and the newly appointed Prime Minister Hamza are still ongoing.
