The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia H.E. Omar Abdirashid Sharmarke who is on a working visit to Russia was received by the Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation, Sergey Lavrov.
The two officials discussed matters concerning the security issue of Somalia. Both Prime Minister Sharmarke and Foreign Minister Lavrov noted the determined effort of the Somali Government and the International community to bring back stability and peace to Somalia, and encouraged with its continuations.
Prime Minister Sharmarke also discussed with Foreign Minister Lavrov on the future of Somalia-Russia trade, economy, humanitarian and cooperation that could enhance the relation amid the two countries mutually.
The discussions amid Prime Minister Sharmarke and Foreign Minister Lavrov covered many other issues in which Russia could be of assistance in rebuilding Somalia. Both officials acknowledged the ongoing involvement of the International Community and praised their role.
In his part Foreign Minister Lavrov expressed his support for Somalia’s effort to reestablish efficient regional and local government institutions to ensure social and economical revival of the country.
