Somalia: IGAD Envoy meets Somali Prime Minister, Pledges Continued Support

The Inter-Governmental authority on Development Organisation (IGAD) has pledged continued support for the Federal Government of Somalia.

IGAD Envoy to Somalia Mohamed Abdi Afey met Somali Prime Minister in his office on Monday. During the meeting, they discussed about the current situation of the country.

Somali Prime Minister Abdiweli Sheikh Commended on IGAD’s role for a ‘’stable and strong’’ Somalia and thanked for their Continued support. He added that his government will fight against ‘’terrorists’’ who try to destablise the country’s peace and stability.

Ambassador Afey said after the talks: ‘’ The International Community should support the Somali government and people in order to restore Peace and Stability.’’

The IGAD Envoy conveyed a message of condolences to the Somali Prime Minister on the victims who lost their lives in the recent attack carried on the Presidential Palace Compound, which al-Shabab took the responsibility.
