Somalia President Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud has held talks with the African Union special envoy to Somalia, Amb. Maman Sidikou, the new AU Envoy to the war-ravaged nation.
The Saturday discussions mainly focused on the recent Political and Security development in the country.
Somalia Foreign Minister Abdirahman Beyle said the two sides also talked about the operations against al-Shabaab militants, which has seen the group losing its last major stronghold in Southern Somalia.
Speaking to the press after meeting President Mohamoud, Amb. Sidikou said his core responsibility in the country would be to work together with the government to restore peace and stability in all regions.
He added that the African Union is committed to continue its support towards the Somali government and people.
The AU peacekeeping force in Somalia, known as AMISOM, was deployed to Somalia in 2007 to support the Transitional Federal government.
