Somali Prime Minister "We shall not depart Galkayo until solid peace returns"

A delegation led by the Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia H. E. Omar Abdirashid Sharmarke which included the President of South West H.E. Sharif a Hassan Sh. Aden, Federal Cabinet Ministers, and members of the Federal Parliament – landed late this afternoon in Galkacyo . The purpose of the visit by the delegation is to resolve the armed conflict in Galkayo.

Prime Minister Sharmarke speaking to the Press after his arrival was resolute in finding a solution, and bringing back stability to the area by calling for dialogue in Galkayo tomorrow which will be attended by both the President of Puntland and Galmudug, H.E. Abdiweli Ali and H.E. Abdikarim Guled.

“I express my dismay at the occurrence of armed clashes in Galkayo over the last few days which has both directly and indirectly affected many. Me and my delegation have come to Galkayo to bring an end to this unfortunate skirmishes, and we will not depart until we see the public who fled town because of this returning to their homes and the return of solid stability” Prime Minister Sharmarke.

Over the last twenty fours the situation in Galkayo was much more stable than with it witnessed over the days prior. Present in Galkayo before of the arrival of the Prime Misters’ delegation were the Federal Interior Mister Abdirahman Odawa and the Chief of the Armed Forces Lt. General Mohamed Aden Ahmed. Both dignitaries held separate side meeting with both sides involved in the conflict.
