Unknown gunmen have killed a Somali ministry official in Mogadishu on Sunday, Security officials said.
Yusuf Mohamed Siyad, working with the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation, was shot and killed in the neighbourhood of Dharkenley, according to security officials.
It was believed that he was on his way to work when the attack occurred.
The newly appointed Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Abdirahman Aynte condemned the murder of his colleague, during a hand over ceremony in the Ministry’s headquarters.
No group has immediately claimed the responsibility as the motive of the attack is still unclear.
Extremist group al-Shabaab who has links with al-Qaeda has carried out similar attacks in the capital, killing dozens of government officials by shooting and suicide bomb attacks.
