The newly appointed Ambassador of Australia to Somalia John Feakes presented his credentials to President Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud in a special accreditation ceremony organized at the Presidential Palace on Monday, Horseed Media reports.
President Mohamoud wished the Australian envoy every success in his new position and stressed the challenges facing his country and progress made in areas of security, democratization and federalism.
The President particularly highlighted the need for a national youth skill and job creation initiative that reduces young people’s vulnerability and provides them with skills they need to look after their families and contribute positively to the future of Somalia, according to a press release from the state house.
He also thanked the support of the Australian government towards Somalia.
Ambassador Feakes thanked the Somali government for the warm reception and added that he would do his utmost to further and strengthen the political and economic relations.
