Turkish President Recep Dayyib Erdogan has cancelled his scheduled trip to the Somali capital, Mogadishu on Friday following the death of the King of Saudi Arabia Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz.
Government sources have confirmed to the media that President Erdogan will attend the funeral of the late King which will be held on Friday evening.
Somalia President Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud is expected to fly to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to also attend the funeral.
It has not been confirmed whether President Erdogan will visit Mogadishu after the funeral or will continue with his other trips in the region.
The security of the capital had been tightened but on Thursday afternoon a car bomb hit a hotel close to the Presidential Palace where a delegation from the Turkish government were holding a meeting with government officials.
At least seven people including two guards died in the attack which was claimed by the militant group al-Shabaab.
