Mogadishu: The Al-Shabab group carried out an attack in Hiran region (central Somalia), which targeted public transport and caused heavy casualties.
The attack that took place on late Friday targeted trucks carrying people and food from Baladweyne (the capital of Hiran Region), and were heading to Mahas District.
Al-Shabab militants killed at least 15 civilians in this attack, according to local residents.
The terror group has increased its attacks in Hiran, in response to operations carried out jointly by the government forces and local militias.
In recent days, the extremist fighters have also been destroying water wells and communication centers.
