Egypt’s interior minister said his country is prepared to offer its security expertise to the Somalia in the framework of deepening cooperation between the two countries and facing mutual threats.
This came during a meeting between Egyptian Interior Minister Mahmoud Tawfiq, Somali Interior Security Minister Mohamed Abukar Islow Duale and an accompanying delegation held in Cairo.
The Egyptian interior ministry said in a statement that the Somali minister has expressed his pride in his Egypt’s leading role in Africa, adding that he looks forward to Cairo using its expertise to train Somali police cadres.
Meanwhile, the Egyptian minister stressed on the need to increase joint efforts and deepen cooperation between security services to confront transboundary threats that affect people’s security and stability. He also pointed to the importance of continued cooperation between the information systems to undermine criminal and terrorist schemes aimed at destabilising security and stability.
Tawfiq has also expressed the ministry’s willingness to provide technical support to the police in Somalia.
