Somalia: Somaliland to deport over 300 Ethiopian illegal immigrantsSomalia’s breakaway region of Somaliland said Tuesday it will deport more than 300 Ethiopian illegal immigrants to their home country.
The Ethiopians, most of them Oromo origin, are now in the custody of the Immigration in Hargeisa, the capital of the region, according to the Minister of Internal Affairs Ali Waran-adde.
‘’ All of them were living here illegally. We have planned to deport them back to their country by the beginning of February.’’
Necessary arrangements have been made for the deportation, he added.
Mr Waran-adde called for the other illegal migrants living in the region to leave or will be deported forcibly.
Somaliland unilaterally declared independence in 1991 when Somalia’s central government in Mogadishu collapsed. The international community does not recognize Somaliland as a separate country.
