ashton_1696477cThe EU has strongly condemned the terrorist attack that targeted a restaurant in Djibouti Saturday evening in which two people were reported killed and 11 injured.

“Our thoughts are with all the victims and their families, and we wish a full and speedy recovery to those injured, including several members of the EU missions EUCAP Nestor and EUNAVFOR Atalanta,” said EU High Representative Catherine Ashton in a statement Sunday.

She said that such “attacks against innocent people can never be justified” and called for those responsible be brought to justice and held accountable for their acts.

“The European Union stands with Djiboutian authorities and governments of the region in the fight against terrorism. We are determined to pursue our support to strengthening the security sector and rule of law on the land and the sea,” added Ashton.
