Published: October 30, 2010

General Yuusuf Hassan Osman “Dhuumaal” the former commander of the Transitional Federal Government of Somalia, calls the main source of weapons to insurgents is the government troops.
General Dhuumaal told reporters about how unpaid salaries and no care policy for the government soldiers have resulted into systematical arms sales to the insurgents.
“… government soldiers don’t receive their salaries and they look other ways of making some money, today the main sources of weapons to insurgents are the government forces….” He says.
Last month, the commander of the TFG troops Generaal Mohamed Geelle Kaahiye was sacked for his involvement of an illegal arms trade.
