On Monday, hundreds of anti-president demonstrators brought traffic to a standstill in Bosaso the commercial capital of the autonomous region of Puntland State. The demonstrators were in support of the Somali prime minister’s decision to reshuffled several Federal cabinet ministers on Saturday.
Bosaso residents including youth groups, women, politicians and academics gathered in Bosaso city centre. The protesters were carrying banners supporting the Prime Minister of Somalia and the flags of Puntland and Somalia.
This demonstration a day after the President of Somalia Hassan Sheikh said that the reshuffle of the Prime minister was “null and void”, and that “every minister should continue fulfilling their duties regardless.”
Somali Prime Minister Abdiwali Sheikh Ahmed who is currently in Mogadishu city enjoys wide support for his efforts to crush Al Qaeda affiliate Al Shabab militia who have been fighting in the war torn country in order to topple the internationally recognized government in Mogadishu.
