SOMALIA: Russian Nationals Appear in Court

The Russian crew members on board the plane seized in Somaliland, appeared in a court in Hargeisa. The plane was carrying military supplies and was en route to neighbouring Puntland.
The six Russians made their first court appearance.
The Somaliland Attorney General announced the crew are being charged with offences related to the violation of a 20 year UN imposed arms embargo on Somalia.
The case against the Russian nationals continues and the outcome is yet unknown, there were no journalists present to witness of the court proceedings.
Two days ago, the office of the Attorney General issued the release of the two South Africans who were also on board the seized plane. There was no evidence to charge the two passengers believed to be journalists.
