Somalia’s Prime Minister: Security officials will be held accountable for the Hayat Hotel attack

The Prime Minister of the Federal Government, Hamse Abdi Barre, last night visited the hospitals treating those injured in the al-Shabaab attack on Hayat Hotel in Mogadishu.

Hamse Abdi Barre, who spoke for the first time about the Hayat Hotel attack, said that the government is working to help the injured.

The Prime Minister of Somalia said that there will be accountability, and everyone who failed to do their job will be held accountable.

I promise the Somali people that the government will be accountable, we will take responsibility for what happened, and whoever was responsible for it will be held accountable.

Prime Minister Hamse Abdi Barre thanked the Somali forces who sacrificed their lives to save the people – and he said they are true heroes.

Hamse also sent his condolences to the people who lost their loved ones, and to the Somali nation in general.

About 30 people were killed in the attack on Hotel Hayat that lasted for more than 26 hours, among the dead was the owner of the hotel. More than 100 people were injured, according to government officials and the Ministry of Health.
